Meet Ambassador Rhino

His Family Fell Head over Heals

in Bully Love at First Sight!

I did not even know about the French Bulldog breed at first. Then one day I noticed the breed when we saw a Suzuki commercial - it was a commercial of a group of young people driving their Suzuki to go cliff diving, and handing out by the window was this amazingly cute white dog with huge bat ears. I said, what is that?! I searched for the commercial and found out that the dog was a French Bulldog, and so began my obsession with the breed.

It was nearly two years before I finally had the chance to get a French Bulldog of my own. My husband and I tried very hard at first to adopt a rescue Frenchie, but for one reason or another, we didn’t have any luck with that. So we decided to go with a breeder, and while searching online, we found Rhino! It was LOVE at first sight when I saw a picture of him with that awesome Frenchie grin and those huge pink and white ears. We felt safe getting it from this particular breeder, too, because the pictures showed that he was just loved. My husband flew out to Chicago on his way back home from his business trip and brought Rhino back with him. We became proud French Bulldog parents on September 25, 2009.

With a face like Rhino’s, I knew it would be a shame to keep him only to ourselves (hehe). When I saw the flyer for Bo & DeeMo company searching for new Ambassadors, I knew I had to enter Rhino. It was a fun process from the get-go. The initial try-out, the Facebook voting, making the postcards, the photo shoot, and, best of all, the runway show, were all so much fun. The runway show was the highlight of it all, and just fantastic. It was great working with so many bully lovers and enthusiasts, and to see so many cute bullies all around!

I love that Rhino has the privilege of representing the French Bulldog breed for Bo & DeeMo. When we go to the French Bulldog meet-ups, people who have attended and have been following Bo & DeeMo introduce him as a model for Bo & DeeMo :D Rhino greets the customers at my parents’ store during the day when we are at work. My parents are proud to introduce him as an Ambassador for Bo & DeeMo to their customers. He is also known as a model for Bo & DeeMo at the day camp he goes to.

Rhino bring so much joy into our lives. His curious and intelligent expressions, the big smiles, the funny little noises he makes when he wants food or wants to play (he’s grunting next to me as I’m writing this, with a toy by his paws), the way he shimmies his butt when he’s excited because he doesn’t have a tail to wag, how excited he is every morning to see us, even though he spent the entire night right next to us on the bed - all of the things he does just makes our day.

Rhino truly puts into practice, “The best place to hide is in plain sight.” The first two years we had him, we lived in an apartment. Rhino didn’t have a yard, so he would hide his bones in the corners, under the cushions, under his bed, by our feet, etc. One day, we took him over to my friend’s house. Rhino took my friend’s dog’s bone and excitedly went outside through the doggie door. We watched him expectantly, fully believing that, at last, he would hide the bone in the ground somewhere. He looked all around the yard to hide the bone, and finally found the perfect place! … and “hid” his bone right on top of the lounge chair on the patio …

Rhino is a one spoiled dog. But who could resist spoiling their bullies? It’s as if the most comfortable couches are not plush enough for him. He insists on sitting or sleeping on a pile of cushions on top of the couch. He also stakes claim in every new, comfortable thing in our house. We got a new couch and daybed set a few months back. As the delivery people were moving the couch through the door (they hadn’t even set it down yet), Rhino jumped up and nestled into the couch!

We’ve taken him on many trips, and we try to take him everywhere that we can take him. One of the favorite trips we had with him was to San Francisco. He didn’t enjoy the cold Pacific Ocean too much, but he loved the attention he got everywhere. We just loved how dog-friendly the entire city was!

We also lived in Reno for about a year before we moved back to Las Vegas. Rhino didn’t enjoy the snows we had when we lived in Reno. One winter, we took him out to the snowy field when it had been snowing a lot, with a sweater, a jacket, and booties on, and still it was too cold for him! He tried to burrow deep into the snow in an attempt to escape the snowy field (we think).   When we went into the clubhouse of our apartment at the time, he went straight for the fireplace and sat in front of it.

Rhino has become such an integral part of our family. He has been the face of our Christmas cards ever since he became ours in 2009. He’s the highlight of all our nieces and nephews’ trips to Vegas, and all of our families just love him. He has truly been a blessing in our lives - an appreciator of all things edible, a tireless tugger, a mighty destroyer of all things stuffed and squeaky, an avid hiker, a world class cuddler, and an unconditional lover.

Thank you for letting us share Rhino’s story!

Meet Lady Jane

 Jane "Pooper Lou" Andrews

Jane got her start in life belonging to what I like to call, "someone less than human."  A young man decided he would play "Russian Roulette" with his pit bull puppy.  Jane didn't get lucky, or maybe she did...  She was shot in the face and the bullet traveled to penetrate her shoulder.

Her story was covered on the news but I have never seen the video. She was taken to the E.R. and would never leave until she came home with me.

She became a blood donor for the rare occasions that a whole-blood transfusion was needed for a dog in trouble.  She had her own suite, if you will, in the treatment area.  When I began working at the E.R. a couple years after she had first arrived there.  I knew the moment I laid eyes on her that she was so sweet.

One day I asked, if I could take her to the park with me.  From that day on, I was her most favorite person in the world.

I couldn't sneak past her "suite" unless she was asleep.  As soon as I spoke, she was out from under her blanket and at the front of her room whining until I showed my face, said hi and gave her hugs.  If she was already out of her room when I got there, batten down the hatches, full-steam ahead and she would knock the wind out of me (thank God that's changed for the better).

We would go to the park as often as I could take her.  I left the E.R. after a couple of years and missed her dearly, but would go when I could to visit her from time to time.  After being unemployed for a while, I would bring her to my house for "stay-cations".  When I would take her back, well, sadness from both of us was evident.

My old coworkers would say that she sat in her room with a sad face not really wanting to interact much for a few hours until she knew I wasn't coming back for a while.  This made my heart melt even more.

One day I decided it was time for Jane to retire and to come home with me and become a part of our family.  I was so excited, she had already been a part of my family, but now it was permanent!  She was mine forever!

Since 2008, she has lived with me full-time. She has a younger brother, a Dachshund named Einstein, and a cat that she hates to love, Bubba.

I'm a super-proud Pittie Mom, and I wouldn't trade her for the world. I'm going to miss her like no other when she finally leaves me to go see Jesus (which isn't anytime soon, I hope). When the Bo & DeeMo opportunity came up last year, I was excited to get her involved.

Our favorite time has been the fashion show. I was more nervous than she was.  All the Moms and Dads are great and very supportive of one another. I find that to be awesome. I feel Jane does her breed proud.  Someday, I hope to get her into therapy for senior citizens, kids seem to make her a little nervous and I prefer to help the elders that aren't cared for by their loved-ones.

My next goal is to get her to San Diego to the leash-free zone of the beach. She would have a blast chasing her ball in the ocean.

My Pooper Lou and I have made some memories together, along with my other kids and fiance… I can't wait to make many more.  She's a Momma's girl, and, honestly, I couldn't have been chosen by a better little being.

The Spoiled life of a Royal Court Bully
Meet Ambassador Dotty

Hello, my name is Dotty I’m an English Bulldog.  My official name is Le-ah New Orleans Lady Sashay By.  I got my name because my Mom is from New Orleans. She came here after Katrina and I guess I help remind her of home. And the ‘Sashay By’ part, well, my tush is my best feature. The grand kids named me Dotty because of all the spots on my tummy, and that’s what stuck.

Mom is my owner/breeder. I was born right here in Las Vegas, August 1, 2009. Mom said she was waiting and waiting for a special pup to come along - and of course it was me! She knew right away, I was the one. So now, I live with Mom Judy and real Mom Tiger, also Aunt Jenn and her Rat Terrier, Skittles.

Tiger and I play a lot together. Skittles doesn’t play with us, she is very old and fragile, and she doesn’t even weigh 8 pounds! Don’t let that fool you though, Tiger and I call her the “Rot” Terrier, she’s fierce!

Everyone thought I would take after Tiger, sweet and mellow; they call her an “old soul”.  Well, I’m a “new soul!"  I'm into everything and up for anything! I’m always looking for something new to play with or someone new to pay attention to me. I’m a princess and a fashionista. I don’t apologize, that’s just how it is. Mom and Jenn say I’m definitely a blonde, don’t know what that means, but it must be good.

Mom says I think the world revolves around me…well it does! The ENGLISH language created all of those wonderful adjectives that describe me – adora-bull, incredi-bull, desira-bull, lova-bull… I could go on and on.

Things I like to do:

Ride in the car – I’m always ready to go somewhere - when mom puts on her "leave the house clothes” I sit in front of the door so I don’t miss a thing. I don’t like summer when most days it’s too hot to go anywhere.

Chew on my Nyla Bones – I have 23! I like to carry them outside and make a display. Mom calls it Bonehenge. My favorite time is Sunday morning. Tiger and I lay on Mom’s bed while she “wakes up” with her coffee and the news, and we chew and chew on our bones!

Play with the grand kids – They are my Bubbies! Where ever they are I’m not far away.
I have Dylan, Sky and Ronin. I love them all so much, especially the little ones. Sometimes they drop forbidden food on the floor and I work hard to clean it up. Dylan is my almost grown up kid. I like to just hang out with him.

I really have to rest up after the kids visit – following them around is exhausting!  So, I like to doze a bit…doze in the sun, doze on the bed, and doze in the kitchen.  As a matter of fact one of my finest talents is that I can sleep and snore sitting up with my eyes open.

I can amuse myself for the longest time. I like to throw my toys up in the air and catch them. This does not work well with Nyla Bones…just sayin…

I don’t think I have any faults……well, once when Mom was away forever, I ate her night stand. And maybe once or twice I jumped in someone’s lap. When I think I’ve been bad I go and sit in Mom’s closet and give myself a time out. It’s quiet there, and I wait patiently to see if anyone discovers what I’ve done.

One of the scariest things that ever happened to me was that I almost died. I choked on my kibble and Mom had to do the Heimlich maneuver and CPR on me. Good thing she’s a nurse. She said she pretended I was a fat 4 year old and lucky for me it worked. Soon after that, Mom went to a pet CPR and first aid course. She said you never know. She also makes me eat really slowly and doesn’t let me out of her sight at meal time.

The most fantastic thing that ever happened to me was Mom took me to the Bo & DeeMo's Bully Baby Model Search when I was six months old. It was wonderful! I met so many fun new friends. They took my picture in the Pet’ographique studio and I knew right then I would be famous! Mom made a video starring me called “Dotty’s Dream”.  I entered the contest to become a Lady of the Royal Court. All my friends and relatives voted for me and before I knew it, I was Lady Dotty.

It was an exciting year. I attended all sorts of Bo & DeeMo events. There was a great fashion show and birthday celebration. I was a model and was on TV. We wore designer fashions and walked up and down the runway. There were lots of people and photographers – I loved it!! We went to Bo & DeeMo’s Howl-O-Ween Muttster Bash to benefit Heaven Can Wait Animal Society. I went as a cute little lady bug and my humans were flowers. At Christmas time, there was Hounds for Helping Hands. I dressed up as a Naughty Elf. We collected tons of pet food and beds and toys.

I love representing Bo & DeeMo – my picture has been in magazines and on event posters. My picture is even on the hangtag for Bo & DeeMo fashions. But more important is helping all the charities we support. When you are as lucky as I am to have a safe warm home, and so much love, you have to help all those pets who aren’t as fortunate.

The next year Mom entered me in the 2011 Bully Baby Model Search. I got to have my portrait taken again and meet up with all my friends. Mom made another video – “Dotty’s Dream Part Deux”, she’s so original…I was chosen to be an Ambassador of the Royal Court. What an honor, and so much fun!

And more events! I couldn’t attend them all, but I went to obedience classes, and I went to Puppy Prom – oh, I almost forgot, at the model search I met the love of my life, Ammo! So handsome! Our Moms say we are perfectly suited, I’m a Valley Girl and he is my Surfer Boy. Sometimes I really don’t understand what humans are talking about, but I agree with them here. It was love at first sight. He took me to the Prom and gave me a beautiful corsage. Ammo had to move away, but our Moms let us Skype. He was kissing my picture on the screen and squeaking his toys at me. Silly boy!

I don’t know what the next year will bring, but I do know it will be a great one! I can’t wait to see what Bo & DeeMo has in store!

"We've enjoyed Dotty and her family since the moment we met. They are the perfect Bully family that leads by example as a responsible owner/breeder. This little bulldog is a fashionista, a diva and Judy is a loving owner. We are so proud Dotty is an Ambassador!"  Dee Mounts, Bo & DeeMo

Bullies Helping the Kitties
Charity Spotlight

C.A.T.S., Inc.
Colucci's Animal Trappers & Savers, Inc.

Bo & DeeMo supports Non Profit 501(c)3 charities by holding fundraisers, media interviews and through the sales of our products. We currently support 3 animal organizations and 1 Meals on Wheels-Catholic Charities: Senior's Pets for the holidays. Please support our family of charities by donating money, pet food/supplies or your time! Bo & DeeMo LOVES animals and we hope to inspire you to get your Volunteerism on.

It's a Bully Thing!

Henry and Louise Colucci have spent most of their adult life helping and rescuing animals.  On December 14, 1998 they took their passion further to form Colucci's Animal Trappers & Savers, Inc. aka C.A.T.S., Inc. as a 501(c).

“Our primary function in these tough economic times is to provide free animal food to organizations that help animals and people who help suffering animals as well. This unique and noble undertaking is what we call our "Pay It Forward Free Animal Food Donation Program" which includes many other local 501 c 3 charities, homeless people with dogs, animal rescuers, feral cat colony care takers, and as many people as we can that simply cannot afford to purchase animal food right here in Las Vegas. We never charge anyone for any of our animal food or supplies that we distribute to them. We exist solely on fund raisers, such as yard sales, etc.”

"The Colucci's are the best in volunteerism. Their dedicated love to help others feed our starving and abandoned pets is an inspiration. Our children should learn such a value by dedicating their time to help others. This would be a great parent-child weekend to do something positive for our community. We love & support Henry & Louise."   Dee Mounts, Bo & DeeMo

All proceeds we receive from donations go to help animals.   We especially need someone to volunteer and do Yard Sales for C.A.T.S., Inc.   We solely survive on donations and if we are to continue this position needs to filled as soon as possible.

Please visit our website at www.catsinclv.org or follow us on Facebook www.facebook.com/catsinclv to learn all about us and fill out a Volunteer Application.  You can also contact us by email: catsinc@cox.net
